The Cleaning Division was added to Montgomery’s CarpetsPlus’ services in 2010. Our customers frequently asked who we recommended to clean the carpet and tile they had purchased from us. We referred them to a local company with mixed results. Our buying group, Alliance Flooring, and its more than 400 dealers nationwide, determined that carpet and tile cleaning was a natural extension to our existing business of selling and installing floors. After extensive research, Alliance partnered with a distribution company that could train and service dealers nationwide. Montgomery’s CarpetsPlus Colortile was among the first to sign up. The equipment is truck-mounted, state-of-the-art high pressure, high temperature water extraction cleaning in a 10 step customer designed program.
The carpet cleaning process includes vacuuming to remove sand, the biggest enemy of carpet in Florida, and spot treating heavily stained areas. Emulsifier pre-spraying loosens soil from the fibers, which are then rake agitated before the technician uses a high pressure wand. This is followed by a rotating spray head on a vacuum style machine that has an extractor with five cleaning heads that shake, scrub and vacuum the carpet fibers. Customers can then protect and extend the life of their carpets by having the original soil and stain protector re-applied with automatic spraying and raking. Heavy commercial floor fans accelerate the drying process allowing almost immediate access to the cleaned areas.
